How do i travel to the Zillertal?

The closest airport to the Zillertal is Innsbruck (70 km), and the second closest is Munich (190 km).  From both it is quite easy to reach the valley by train or transfer bus.  From Innsbruck Airport you have to take a short bus / taxi ride to the main train station, and then change trains once at Jenbach. Taking the train from Munich airport, you change once in Munich and again at Jenbach.

If you prefer to use a transfer service, we recommend Four Seasons transfers – they offer a well priced and efficient service.  Prices vary on different dates, so best is to check it directly for your arrival/departure times: https://www.tirol-taxi.at/en-contact.

How do I get to the Retreatplace?

Hotel Mountain and Soul:  If you’re travelling into the valley by train, the station “Ramsau i. Zillertal/ Hippach” is just 1km from the Mountain and Soul hotel.  We can pick you up from there.   If you’re driving, the hotel address is Ramsau 425, 6284 Ramsau im Zillertal.

Gasthof Gschösswandhaus: The stunning location for our ‘Top of the Mountain’ Retreats is best reached by the Penkenbahn cable car.  The valley station is 1km from ‘Mayrhofen i. Zillertal’ train station.   Note the last lift is at 4.20pm, so you should aim to arrive in Mayrhofen by 4:20 pm at the latest. All info for the cable car is here https://www.mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com/en/mayrhofner-bergbahnen/prices-opening-hours-summer/

If you intend to travel to the Gschösswandhaus by car you should contact us in advance so we can give you the keycode for the barrier part way up.  Please be aware that the road is a steep one way gravel track!

What are the arrival and departure times?

Arrivals are between 14 – 16 o’clock where we will have welcome snacks and drinks prepared.

Departure is after a Yoga class and a yummy and big goodbye brunch.

How much yoga is there, and what level should I be?

On a typical day we would have one yoga class plus a second additional course such as yoga philosophy and health coaching, introduction to thai yoga massage or Qi-Gong, an acro yoga (partner yoga) class or an embodiment practice.  Our classes are designed to be suitable for all levels, with adjustments possible for every ability.

What are the included meals?

Every day we have a yummy breakfast buffet with oatmeal or cereals, wholegrain bread, veggie spreads, different cheese, nuts, fruit salad, yogurt, honey, coffee and tea.

You can take something from the breakfast buffet to eat at lunch, but some days we will have the opportunity to stop at a mountain hut where you can try some tyrolean specialities.

Our evening meals consist of a variety of vegetarian dishes that include local produce and traditional recipes mixed in with international recipes like veggie curries we have gathered in cooking courses in Sri Lanka and spices brought home from our travels. We have lots of good stuff like fresh vegetables, salads and deli from the region.

Can you cater for vegetarian, vegan and other diets?

Of course!  All the meals we prepare are vegetarian.  If you are vegan, or have allergies or other dietary requirements then just let us know.

Which skiing area is near and how do I get there?

Most Ski areas of the Ziller valley are reachable within 10 to 25 minutes by car. Ski Buses depart from outside the Mountain and Soul hotel and take you to the Horbergbahn. The ski area there is called Penken and is known for its variety in slopes and the freestyle Park. It is a big connected ski area, with 139 excellently groomed slopes and 58 modern lifts.  You can view the piste map here: https://www.mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com/en/mayrhofner-bergbahnen/open-lifts/

How much skiing / snowboarding is possible?

You can choose to ski as much or as little as you would like during the retreat. The snow shoe hike and Äsmo Powsurf Testing / tobogganing are typically activities we would do during the day, and so on those days there would be less time available for skiing. But of course, if you preferred, you could opt to ski instead.  Typically there would be up to 3 days in the schedule for skiing or snowboarding.

Is the Skipass included in the package?

The lift pass is not included, but we can help you with organising. You would only need them on the days you want to go skiing, as you do not need a pass on the day that we go snowshoe hiking or tobogganing.

What kinds of Ski pass can I get, and how much does it cost?

You can get a day or half day pass or more days. A full day pass is approximately 50 EUR. Further info here: hintertuxergletscher.at and mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com

Can I rent gear, and how much does it cost?

Yes, almost every cable car station has a ski and snowboard rental service. We will help to organise it for you.  The cost depends on the quality of equipment you want, and how many days you hire for. Typically it’s 20-30 EUR per day.

Do I need Skiing or Snowboarding skills?

Not at all. You have the possibility to book a beginner’s course in skiing or snowboarding. We help you to find a course that is good and not too pricey. Or you can just relax and take in the surroundings, go for a walk in the snow or enjoy the wellness area, while the others are on the mountain.
