Waking Up Above the Clouds – Mornings at 1800 Meters in a Globessekers Yoga Retreat
It’s quiet. Only a few rays of sunlight sneak through the curtains. I open my eyes—and right in front of me is a breathtaking view: majestic mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. No traffic, no buzzing phones. Just stillness, fresh Alps air, and endless sky.
Waking up at 1800 meters feels different. Sometimes the peaks are bathed in golden morning light, other days the valley below lies under a thick layer of clouds, while up here, the sky is clear and endless. Even when it rains or the clouds roll in dramatically, the atmosphere remains magical. Nature sets the rhythm here—not your alarm clock.
The hut itself has a special soul. Built by Chris’s great-grandfather, constantly developed and maintained by the family, it’s now run in the fourth generation. You can feel the history in the wooden walls, the pride in every detail, and the warmth that only grows when something is cared for over decades. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a family legacy, shared with the world.
No matter the weather, the air smells of forest and meadow. And then, almost silently, a paraglider glides past the window, soaring gracefully by the terrace as if greeting the new day.

After an energising Yoga or Qi Gong practice, mornings flow into long breakfasts—either indoors with panoramic views or outside on the sun-drenched terrace. Fresh bread, mountain cheese, warm dishes, fruit, and coffee—paired with sunshine and crisp air. You breathe deeper, eat more mindfully, and smile without even noticing.
After breakfast, each day leads into a new outdoor adventure. Whether it’s hiking through alpine trails, exploring hidden lakes, joining a SUP tour, going climbing or simply soaking in the mountain silence—there’s always something waiting just outside the door. The mountain becomes your playground, with endless ways to move, breathe, and feel alive.
One of the most special parts? The people. Travelers from all over the world gather here—some to hike, others to reflect, some to learn, and many just to enjoy. The conversations are deep, the connections feel real.
And every single time, one thought keeps coming back as a former participant said:
„Why would I ever want to go back down into the valley? Up here, everything feels clearer. Quieter. More alive.“
